Leading and Thriving Together: a 2 day leadership intensive

Dates: Friday 6 & Saturday 7 September, 2024

Facilitated by: Dr Virginia Moller, Libbi Turner and Kelley McGlashan

Venue: Abbotsford Convent Precinct, Abbotsford, Melbourne (adjacent to Sophia Mundi Steiner School)

The intensive is open to all former and current participants of the Steiner Education Australia Leadership Development Program, any current leaders in Steiner schools, anyone interested in a leadership role in a Steiner school, or anyone interested in the Steiner Education Australia Leadership Development Program. Places are limited, please book early to secure your place.

We are excited about this 2-day face-to-face event, addressing the ideals in Steiner schools of developing and sustaining a culture of collective (collaborative) leadership and the role of shared responsibility.

We all want collaboration as a natural way of working in our Steiner schools. Expectations for collaboration are not always met, however, due to differing assumptions about what collaboration means, lack of time and resources to truly collaborate, a lack of clarity in decision making processes, not to mention confusion or a lack of communication about roles and responsibilities in the school.

Over the 2 days together, we will work with a framework of collaborative leadership culture aligned with the Core principles for Australian Steiner Schools, focussing on core principle 7. Practical activities will focus on using the collaborative leadership framework as a catalyst for reflection on where your school is in relation to the aspiration of collaborative leadership. This is with a view to determining priority areas for whole school development within your own school context.

We have developed the 2 day program to ensure maximum participation through group work, collaboration and sharing!

Areas we will cover relevant to developing a collaborative leadership culture include:

  •  Processes for whole school visioning for a collective leadership culture based on shared values
  • Cultivating relational well-being, including wellbeing of the self & others,
  • What is power sharing in practice: unpacking power, authority, decision making and shared responsibility
  • Transforming dialogue: sustaining healthy processes that enable feedback, constructive critique, review and renewal
  • leading learning for holistic growth for everyone (students and adults)

The days will start at 9am and finish by 4pm.

Morning tea and lunch provided both days.
