Mumbulla School for Rudolf Steiner Education is offering a full scholarship from 2020

Mumbulla School for Rudolf Steiner Education in Bega, is offering a full scholarship from Kindergarten to Class 6, starting in 2020.

For many years the school community have wanted to create a scholarship for students who may not be able to attend Mumbulla School for financial reasons.

Mumbulla School began in 1988 with a small group of children and dedicated parents who felt there was something special in the principles followed by Rudolf Steiner Schools. The school has now grown to around 180 children and our enrolments represent a broad cross section of the Bega Valley community. The school welcomes students and families with diverse backgrounds and interests and encourages parent and carer support to help their child/ren to engage fully in school life.

Any family who is considering Mumbulla School is invited to take a school tour. Visitors see many things which are familiar in every school but the outstanding comments we hear are observations on how beautiful the grounds and classrooms are, how warm and inviting the school feels and how happy the children are as they enjoy their surroundings. We are lucky also that the school has recently purchased adjoining land and will shortly begin to build a completely new Kindergarten building and play space. More beautiful spaces for the children to lean and play.

Looking deeper at the Curriculum there are features that are distinctive to Mumbulla School. In the younger years, there is a focus on imaginative play and emphasis on experiential learning. Kindergarten is a homelike environment where daily work takes place with a strong predictable rhythm providing the child with a sense of security, anticipation and expectation.

From Class One, children remain with the same teacher for the next six years. This helps children feel safe and to learn and explore as they form a deeper, more nurturing relationship with this teacher.

The Curriculum places specific emphasis on the need to balance academic subjects with artistic and practical activities. Teachers use narrative, creative writing, visual arts, music, drama and movement to fosterthe students’ engagement in academic learning. There is a rich program of Music which involves choir, string instruments, dance and performance. All children learn practical skills in Craft, including knitting, sewing, crocheting, copper work and woodwork.

The Mumbulla School Scholarship Program is one of the only purely financial scholarships available to an independent primary school. Applicants must be Australian residents and will be asked to provide evidence of financial hardship. The school is committed to privacy and confidentiality throughout the process. The successful applicant will only be known to critical staff and will begin in Kindergarten in 2020, just like any other student.
