Newcastle Waldorf School: New fence panels by Year 9, 2020

Newcastle Waldorf School

New fence panels by Year 9, 2020

This project responded to the 2019-2020 bushfires and its impact on so many species. Students worked in groups of 4 or 5 and researched a current list of species from the East coast of NSW that were significantly impacted by the fires. Students looked at the categories of reptiles, birds, amphibians, marsupials and insects. They worked to develop a design that would be effective aesthetically and effective on a large scale. They chose to focus on animals that were quite small or more obscure and hence, possibly less recognised by the public in this context, in contrast to the well-recognised plight of the koala.
