Eloise awarded ‘Highly Commended’ for music composition

2021 Launceston Competitions
Eloise is a very talented pianist and vocalist and has been having private lessons for a number of years, but at times her crippling stage fright and performance anxiety has meant that she rarely, if ever, performs in public. We were incredibly proud that she chose to enter the Launceston Competitions this year at the urging of her music teacher.
Eloise was awarded a highly commended for entry into the Primary Aged Own Composition category. In this category all contestants were required to write an original piece of music to a theme set by the adjudicator (this year it was animals). They were required to compose the piece in a distinct, recognisable classical style score, and perform their composition. Eloise chose a traditional call and answer style and wrote a piano piece called ‘The party pug’. Eloise has been having St Cecelia music theory lessons for a number of years and is proficient at sight reading music, but has always found writing music down challenging, so she was thrilled to be recognised not only for her creative ability, but the technical aspects of her written music score.
Eloise has been extremely buoyed by her recent success and has decided to enter another competition at the end of the year singing a duet. We are all so incredibly proud of her growth this year.
