Information for parents/carers

Steiner Education Australia is a peak education body providing a national voice to promote and support Steiner education in Australia. It does not have authority over Independent Steiner schools or State Steiner Stream schools, and is not the governing body for any school.

Steiner Education Australia is not able to advocate for families, students or staff on issues that arise at schools.

If an issue arises, parents/staff are encouraged to discuss it directly with the relevant teacher or school leader, and follow the established grievance policy for their school.

Unlike government and Catholic schools, most Independent schools do not have a centralised authority like a Catholic Diocese or government Department of Education to govern their operations. Independent Steiner schools are governed by their own school board or school council. For information about a school’s board or council please contact the school directly.

Steiner schools have policies and procedures in place for many areas of day-to-day school management that are be available to parents and carers. They are usually found on the school’s website, in parent handbooks or copies can be requested from the school.
