The Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework is recognised nationally by ACARA. Steiner education is based on a creative, imaginative and experiential methodology with specific age-related curriculum content themes and scope and sequences of skills.
The most recent version of the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework (ASCF) was recognised in 2023 by the Australian Curriculum and Reporting Authority as an alternate curriculum equivalent to the Australian Curriculum V9, from Foundation/Kindergarten to Year 10.
The ASCF is available to registered home schooling families via a yearly subscription service.
Subscription includes:
- access to the ASCF curriculum for one year/stage level
- basic phone support
- a mentor list
Duration of subscription:
12 months from date of purchase

The curriculum is packaged by year for K-6 or by high school stage 7/8 or 9/10.
The cost for an annual subscription (12 months access from date of payment) is $250 +GST for each year or stage package.
Phone support
Basic phone support is available on Wednesdays and Fridays: this support will help to navigate the curriculum documents which include topics, achievement standards, child development profiles and scope and sequences. Basic phone support includes up to 5 short phone calls or two months phone access whichever is reached first.
Mentors
Steiner Education Australia maintains a database of mentors with Steiner teaching experience. Selection of a mentor is a private choice of the family and Steiner Education Australia is not involved in any further arrangements. All financial agreements are a private matter between the mentor and the family.
Students from home schooling families must be registered for home schooling with their state education authority prior to applying for a subscription to the ASCF. Information on how to register can be found on the website of your state education authority.
Home schooling families should recognise that requirements may vary from state to state. Some states (eg NSW) offer a state curriculum and syllabuses that are aligned with the Australian Curriculum but schools and home schoolers are registered using the state curriculum. Support in meeting state requirements may be obtained from the relevant state Education offices, and Steiner Education Australia can provide some support.
The ASCF is a framework only and does not contain units of work, lesson plans, assessments, or implementation methods.
Please have a look at the examples via the button at the bottom of the page for more information on curriculum content and layout.
Only registered home schoolers may apply for a subscription to the ASCF. The ASCF can be used by subscribers for their own personal use and cannot be shared further or used for commercial purposes.
Steiner education values the social context of education and recommends that where possible families enrol their children in a school but recognises that in some circumstances this may not be possible.

Home schooling
Home schooling is when parents develop or adapt their own learning program for their child at home and the parent is the child’s educator. Successful home schooling is characterised by a high level of commitment, research, time and energy that is focused on the child’s learning needs. Children who are home schooled must be registered for home schooling with their relevant state authority.
Distance Education
Distance Education is when parents enrol their child in a school of distance education. A learning program is provided by the school and parents act as supervisors or home tutors to the child within their home. Distance education programs are implemented via mail, email, telephone and/or online platforms. Children enrolled in a school of distance education are not registered for home schooling with their state authority.
Click on the button below to request a subscription. You will be asked to upload proof of home schooling registration on the form.
Once you have submitted the subscription you will be contacted by Steiner Education Australia and an invoice will be sent to you. Upon payment of the invoice, login details will be set up for you.
